How we check facts

24 diagram apps, 463 of the makers' own pages read, last checked 17 October 2026.

Where facts come from

Only from each maker: pricing pages, documentation, help centres, terms of service, licences and their own app-store listings. Reviews, comparison sites, forums and resellers don't count, even when they agree.

Every value is tied to the maker's page and the sentence that states it, and is kept only when that sentence actually says it. Prices and free-plan terms are opened and read again by hand before they're published.

The four ways to draw

  • Sketch by hand: A freehand canvas: draw boxes and arrows the way you would on a whiteboard.
  • Drag shapes: Shape libraries and connectors that snap: flowcharts, UML, network maps.
  • Write code: Type text like A --> B and the app draws it. Diagrams live next to your code.
  • Describe in words: Write what you want in plain language and AI draws the first version.

An app is in a lane only when the maker documents that way of working in the product itself. Diagram code counts only if it stays editable as code after it renders; a one-time Mermaid import doesn't. AI counts only for drawing a diagram from a prompt, not general writing help.

When a maker doesn't say

We write "Not stated". That's different from "No". Filters never count it as a match, the home page shows those apps with a dashed outline, and a missing price is never filled in with a guess.

How prices are compared

  • Prices are the maker's list prices per month, billed yearly where the maker offers it, otherwise monthly. Both are shown on each app's page.
  • Prices in different currencies are never ranked against each other. Makers' stores change currency by country, so we record the currency we could actually verify.
  • "Free for work" means the free version's own terms allow business or commercial use.
  • Prices change and differ by country and tax. Always check the checkout page.

What the counts mean

Guide tables count documented facts, such as "3 of 4", and say how many aren't stated. A higher count isn't a better app; it means more of what that guide asks about is confirmed.
